The Goal
Create an engaging brand for a new local retro pop culture, comic con style event. Market the event to sell tickets.

The Solution
The event is in the retro pop culture/geek zone and includes activities like cosplay, workshops, retro video games, comics, art and wrestling, and the target audience is predominantly families.

We want kids to be drawn to the vibrancy and idea of play, at the same time we want to pinch the ‘nostalgia’ section of the grown-ups’ brains. We dialled the saturation up, finding ourselves a colour palette that was so delicious you can almost taste the E numbers.

The typography is bold and brash but with a dollop of a vintage feel allowing versatility and fun without compromising readability.

The event was a huge success with a terrific, buzzing atmosphere, around 500 attendees and a mega super £2,132 raised for Centrepoint.

Of course, you can’t ignore Box Boy – the brand mascot. Why a box? What is the stuff coming out of his head? Is it even a head? The character is unique which was very important. We didn’t want to show any sort of allegiance to an animal or an already existing superhero (copyright, am I right?)

This green box is super happy to be here and gives the advertising continuity whilst offering a helpful tool for highlighting particular messaging.
